π₯° 3 Beautiful Decorative Bind Offs
There are lots of practical ways to finish your knits.
Some bind offs are invisible, or in pattern, or a traditional chain.
But what if you want a bind off with a little more personality?
Today we're going to look at three bind off methods that go above and beyond so you're next project can stand out.
Two Color Bind Off (Tutorial)
Much like a traditional bind off, this 2 color version is great for Double Knitting OR 2-Color Brioche. But you don't have to knit with two colors the entire time in order to make use of this technique. You can easily add a second (or third) color for the last row just to create an interesting edging to finish off your project. π
Picot Bind Off (Tutorial)
If you're an avid shawl or lace knitter, than you've probably come across the picot bind off. This stretchy bind off creates a scalloped edge with little points. It's a playful way to finish your project and adds a nice feminine touch to everything from shawls to sweater hems.
Icelandic Bind Off (Tutorial)
This is a variation of a simple chain bind off that is more elastic. Where it really shines is when it's created with a contrasting color. This gives your edge a braided look that's very attractive. Since this bind off stretches when blocked it's often used for shawls, but its a good option for almost any project.

Pattern Pick
Color Shifting Shawl by Jennifer Fish
The confident beginner will enjoy this simple shawl as a foray into shawl knitting, and more advanced knitters will love the color and texture of this simple pattern.
This asymmetrical shawl is knit diagonally from tip to tip. The shawl is shaped by a 2-row repeat, gradually growing the shawl along one side only. Choose 5 colors of your favorite colorful sock yarn. You want a good mix of light and darker hues, with colors that work cohesively together. Go bright and bold or gentle neutral - no matter your choice, this shawl will be a beautiful addition to your wardrobe.
